What is unique to your role at The Friends of Israel?
Being surrounded by the largest Jewish population in the U.S. offers me a wide variety of outreach opportunities in Crown Heights, New York City and the Raritan Valley Community College Holocaust Genocide Studies Library. I'm involved with local synagogues and Chabads where I volunteer; attend classes, programs, and women's groups; and build many friendships. I utilize my skill as an artist through the Jewish Community Center, teaching individual and group lessons and participating in JCC programs. I volunteer with The Jewish Family Services, serving in eldercare, including with Holocaust survivors and supporting the second generation.
What inspires you most to do what you do for FOI?
Scripture inspires me. We who are saved after hearing and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ are responsible to share the good news of salvation. Faith comes by hearing, Paul said, and the gospel is "the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”
What is one bit of wisdom you have for those who want to share the love of the Messiah with others?
Pray, trust in the Lord's guidance, listen intently, show loving kindness, and be patient and gentle with your Jewish friends.
What Scripture compels you the most to do what you do?
“For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!’” (Romans 10:12–15).
Who is the most influential person in your spiritual life?
My mom—her daily example as a believer, living her life committed to her Savior Jesus with all joy, always sharing her love of Scripture, Israel and the Jewish people.
What books have you read (other than the Bible) that have impacted your spiritual life most?
Israel My Glory magazine and The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
